An Old, Treasured Recipe

Grandma W's Strawberry Squares

Perhaps one of my all-time favorite desserts- tastes especially great in the hot summer months or right after a large Mexican meal.

1 cup flour

¼ cup brown sugar

1 square butter, melted

½ cup chopped nuts

Mix the above ingredients all together on cookie sheet- bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until light brown.

2 egg whites

2 Tbsp lemon juice

1 carton frozen strawberries, thawed

1 cup sugar

Whisk egg whites until peaks form and fold in remaining ingredients. Add 1 cup of whipped cream already whipped. Sprinkle a baking dish (9 x 13) with 2/3 of already made crust and then spread strawberry whipped filling over crumbs. Sprinkle remaining crust on top of strawberry mixture and then freeze.
